Nailah Ricco Khafra Co. Style Story So many of you have loved our J & Flo Jewelry collection!  This only makes us even more excited to share our newest style story with you!  Read below to get inside the head of J & Flo, Owner and Creative Influence over handmade jewelry line, J & Flo! How would you describe your signature style? My style is extremely influenced by culture and travel. “Many of the pieces I incorporate into my style and even into my jewelry line are actually acquired from my world travels. It’s influenced by the Caribbean, the American south (New Orleans!), South America, Europe and most importantly - Harlem, New York City, my hometown.  It has heavy African influence from my decade (plus) of professional African dance and from the predominance that African culture has in my community in New York.” At Khafra Company, we want to dress our clients for every moment of every day - for work or play. How do you decide what you’re wearing during the week? “I am a new mother to an amazing 6 month old son, much of my style is functional but must pay homage to the me that was not a mother - it still has to look edgy, dynamic and still has to express the vibrancy of my personality. I’ve often been told I get dressed QUICKLY, which is inevitable when all of your clothes truly reflect you. You’re ready to bust a move, no matter how the week plays out.” At Khafra Company, we take style super seriously. What items in your wardrobe can you absolutely not live without? Why? What makes them so special? “I used to be very emotionally attached to every item of clothing that I had - be it a ring I scored on the beach in Brazil, a pair of pants that my mother passed down to me from Senegal, or a mink stole snagged from my great grand aunt (still boasting her initials). However, I have to be honest - my relationship with my clothing has transcended beyond an emotional attachment and moved into a space where anything I see - if it is a reflection of me - I can incorporate into my look. Part of this has been a result of my mobility. I have moved into a new location every year for the past 8 years. I lose things dear to me in each move (sadly). ‘You have to pay the cost to be the boss.’ which in my case has meant having to be so stylish that I can connect with items in an intimate way whether they’re new or old! ” What 3 things are you most looking forward to adding to your wardrobe this season? More gold More gemstones More shoes About a year ago, when I first found out I was pregnant, I began to seriously whittle away my 100+ shoe collection to a few must haves (70 pairs or so, hehehe) and now I’m so excited about adopting new babies into the fam. Shoes that is. At Khafra Company, we think that all of our clients and customers are slightly-more-than-fierce. What does that mean to you? “A confident person is the most fierce … and admired person that there is. Period. We know confident women when we see them - we can’t keep our eyes off of them, even if we are disillusioned and think we 'dislike them.’ We adore confident men and we can’t get enough of their words and image.” A slightly-more-than-fierce existence means dedication to the constant work of, and ever-celebrating in, the progress of AWESOME self confidence.
